Exhibition
Together with Dresden’s Stadtmuseum [City Museum] the Stiftung Frauenkirche is organising an exhibition about the development, the effect and the rebuilding of the Frauenkirche. The exhibition is divided into three different themes. In the first part, the predecessor of George Bähr’s Frauenkirche in its architectural and especially in its cultural-historical importance, is introduced. In the second part, the planning and building history of Georg Bähr’s baroque new building is illustrated. Here, the role of the Frauenkirche in music and church history is discussed. The third part is devoted to the importance of the Frauenkirche in the Second World War, its destruction and its rebuilding.
Numerous authentic exhibits, supplemented by models, give visitors a three-dimensional impression of the building history of the famous dome. Artefacts, drawings and models can be viewed; specially recorded sound documents can be heard; and video recordings and computer animations can be seen. The exhibition is suitable for the young and the old.
