Pictures

Many people ask about availability of picture material for the Frauenkirche or about the possibility of taking their own photos which they could then use for their own purposes. Please take note of the following information.

Taking your own photos
There is a distinction between taking photos inside and outside of the church. For taking photographs outside of the church from publicly accessible areas (e.g. The Neumarkt ), the so-called panorama freedom applies. That means that such photographs are permitted and do not require the permission of the Stiftung Frauenkirche. The same applies to the use of the pictures. You can take photographs for your own private album as well as for commercial purposes according to your own discretion.

The situation is different for pictures of the inside of the Frauenkirche. Here, the taking of photographs is definitely not permitted. At each of the seven entrances, there are notices pointing this out. We strongly request that you respect the photo and film prohibition. The taking of photos by representatives of the media can be permitted in well-founded cases. In every case, this is with the agreement in advance from the department of press and public work. However, please be aware that a substantial fund of pictures already exists. New photos will only be permitted if suitable material cannot be found.

Use of existing material
The rebuilding of the Frauenkirche and the finished church have been documented comprehensively and in high quality. You can get an impression from the Picture Gallery. If you are interested in any of these photos, please approach the department of press and public relations. Please note though, there is a charge for the use of material.

The Stiftung Frauenkirche has made two pictures available for download free of charge. These are suitable for printing up to a size of 13x18 cm.
