Guided Tours in the Frauenkirche

There is much to learn about the history, architecture, and design, as well as life in the reconstructed Frauenkirche. Take the time to partake in one of the many available tours and activities. It’s worth it!

After the noon and evening prayers in the main room, visitors are cordially invited to the central church tour. These are held from the pulpit. Since the church interior is visible from almost every seat, all visitors stay in their seats.

Available Dates: Always after an organ prayer. Usually Monday through Saturday at 12:00 and Monday through Wednesday, as well as Friday, at 18:00. Please check your preferred date in the event calendar.

Duration: About 50 minutes (prayer and church tour)

Capacity: 650 seats in the nave; 250 seats on the first and second gallery (only for registered groups)

Reservation: Only required for groups (for a fee)

Cost: Free admission, donations are requested

Additional Information: Since the tour follows directly after the prayer, it is not possible to visit the tour without attending the prayer. Reservations are made for groups over thirty people in the first and second gallery (no elevator). There is a handling fee of three euros per person.

The individual tour of the gallery is a special offer for groups of up to thirty people. A volunteer tour guide explains the history and message of the reconstructed Frauenkirche, as well as the church interior, and answers all questions.

Reservation: Individuals can join tours in the church spontaneously after registering. Reservations are required for groups.

Cost: 5 euros per person for a group booking (maximum of thirty people, minimum charge 125 euros). Seven euros per person for individuals (for daily guided tours)

Additional Information: Guided tours of the gallery are designed as group tours and can be reserved in advance. Information on when the guided tours take place can be obtained from the ticket service or at from the tour guides within the church.

If you want, you can explore the church interior independently using an audio guide. Visitors can take a seat to follow the audio guide with their eyes. Both basic and more detailed information can be accessed for the stations. Depending on how intensively the guide is used, the listening time varies between 25 and 45 minutes. The audio guide is available in five languages.

Additional Information: A group reservation is possible for up to 50 people. For groups up to 25 people there is a minimum charge of 75.00 euros; bigger groups will be charged 3.00 euros per person.

Additional Information: Both offers are provided for groups only.

The guided climb to the dome is an extraordinary experience. Accompanied by a volunteer church guide, visitors climb up to the viewing platform at a height of 67 meters. On the way, they will learn interesting facts about the history, reconstruction, and the use of the Frauenkirche. For their climbing efforts, the visitors are rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of Dresden, the Elbe riverbend, and the surrounding area.

Available Dates: After prior registration outside of the regular opening times: Summer (Mar.-Oct.) before 10:00 or after 19:00 | Winter (Nov.-Feb.) before 10:00 or after 17:00

Additional Information: The effort of the climb, which should not be underestimated, requires a good physical constitution. Sturdy shoes are required. Please read the site rules.

This offer combines elements of the church tour and the organ concert. Volunteer church tour guides explain the history and the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche and introduce the interior design of the building. The church’s organist, cantor, and guest organists play the Kern Organ with selected works by well-known composers. Since the church’s interior can be easily seen from each of the offered seats, the visitors remain in their seats during the central church tour, which is accompanied by organ music.

Additional Information: Tickets for the event are offered in advance sales and at the door. If you wish, you can also reserve tickets at the ticket service.

The film “Fascination Frauenkirche,” which is shown in the basement of the Frauenkirche, provides exciting insights into the history and reconstruction of the church. Impressive photos depict and explain the beautiful church space. Afterwards, visitors can explore the church and experience what they have seen firsthand.

Available Dates: Monday through Saturday during the “Open Church” times; please inquire with the visitor service when screenings will take place on your preferred date.

Duration: 25 minutes (as well as the possible addition of the viewing time in the church)
